Cattail Cottage, built in 2021, is the newest of our three cabins on Lower Holly Lake. It has the same easy lake-day rhythm as its Cattail siblings, with room for bigger groups. It sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths: a king bed in the primary, queens in the other two bedrooms, and four twin beds in the open loft. Two gas fireplaces, one on the main floor and one in the walk-out lower level, keep both floors cozy all winter. The kitchen has a center island and a table for 10, and the basement ping pong table keeps the after-dinner crowd busy. Most guests end up on the large deck or the screened porch looking over 48-acre Lower Holly Lake, then around the fire pit at night. For paddling we keep 2 kayaks and a canoe at the shore. The dock stays in all winter, and the ice fishing on Lower Holly is great.
In winter, we keep the driveway plowed, and the snowmobile trail runs alongside the property from Cattail Lane down to the lake and across Lower Holly, so you can ride right from the driveway. The Nordic ski trail is about 10 minutes southwest, and the Birkie trails near Hayward are about 20 minutes away. Stone Lake's pubs and wine bar are 5 minutes west, and Hayward is about 15 minutes north. Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome for a $150 flat fee.

Quick answers to common questions about this property.

Tourism is a big industry in this neck of the woods, so if you're coming to this area for the tourist attractions, our cottage is ideally located nearby. Hayward, as mentioned, is only 15 minutes to the north and is well-known for it's food, shopping, year-round events, festivals, and tourist attractions.
The nearest town however is Stone Lake, which is only a 5-minute drive straight west from the cottage. My wife and I love Stone Lake. It's smaller and quieter than Hayward (which is more of our style) however there are still many neat places to check out! If you have time, drive into town, park your car and walk around for a bit. With the pubs, antique stores, micro-brew/coffee house, and wine bar, there's plenty to do!
